5 Easy snacks helping you stay productive while you work.

Ever experienced that 2 pm crash? You just ate lunch but now you are feeling sluggish and still hungry so you get up and go for some crackers thinking that will do the trick. Now, it’s 3 pm and you feel even worse than before. What happened?

Courtney Podany, a nutritionist and a huge no-diet advocate believes real foods and movement are key to staying energized through the day. She says “when we eat carbs by themselves or carb-heavy meals, our blood sugar skyrockets and then is followed by a crash, because like the saying, what goes up must come down.” She elaborate and states “during this crash, we become irritable and tired and just want to grab for something quick to make the feeling pass.”

We all know this feeling way too well, so what can we do? She urges us to “Think of pairing protein, healthy fats, and carbohydrates together. These are known as macronutrients or fuel for our bodies. They work best when combined to deliver energy and leave you feeling satisfied and full.”

Courtney suggests we take the opportunity to see “Every time we eat as a chance to nourish our bodies so snacks should be planned as mindfully as our meals.”

Here are some examples to get you started! Enjoy!

  1. Turkey, lettuce, & cheese rollup with your favorite hummus

  2. Sourdough toast with avocado and hard boiled eggs

  3. Pita rollup with chicken, guacamole, and salsa

  4. Greek yogurt with cashews and blueberries

  5. Oatmeal with a spoonful of old-fashioned peanut butter mixed in
